CambsPSA
offers help, information and support to all those affected by prostate cancer
through a:-
i) National Prostate Cancer Helpline
ii) Local Support Groups
iii) Information Pack
CambsPSA
has been set up by a small group of prostate cancer
patients based mainly in East Anglia.
It is managed by and
for men with prostate cancer, their families and those who are interested in improving
the care and support of those affected by this form of cancer.
Our services are free
of charge to anyone and are funded entirely by membership subscriptions and donations.
Diary Dates:
We hold regular meetings, usually on Tuesday evenings, based at Addenbrooke's
Hospital in Cambridge. Anyone is welcome to attend - there's no fee or admission
charge - just come along and see if we can help you.
We usually try to arrange to have speakers attend to give a short talk about Prostate
Cancer, it's treatment and about the hospitals work to support the efforts being
made to find better ways of treating it, as well as to discuss fund-raising events.
It's also a useful meeting point where you can learn more about the various treatments
available, by talking to patients who are, or who have already gone through it.

We will be having our patron, Professor Neal, come and talk to us in November,
the 2nd to be precise. We are anticipating a larger then usual turnout for this
special event and so two things:
1) Please tell anyone you know who may benefit from this internationally renowned
surgeon and researchers talk to us.
2) This is an opportunity for everyone concerned about Prostate Cancer to find
out what's going on. Not just for members and carers but for anyone who feels
the need to know about this disease. Part of our reason for existence is to support
through knowledge those who want to know and spread our help as far as possible.
We are justly proud to have such a man as our head so come along and listen and
meet people of a like ilk.
Professor Neal is Chair of Surgical Oncology; Honorary Consultant in Surgical
Uro-oncology & Research Group Leader.

Volunteers are always needed to provide extra "pairs of hands" for both
staff and patients, in all departments at the hospital - all sorts of different
help and skill levels are required: running errands, providing mail room assistance,
even some basic typing/word processing.
In most cases, each volunteer need only provide 2-4 hours "time" per
week, although a minimum of 6 months commitment is usually required.
There is no upper age limit, but you do need to be older than 16.
You can find out more information about becoming a volunteer here:
Parking
Our meetings are held in the evenings, at which time the main multi-storey car
park at Addenbrooke's has plenty of space. Parking charges do apply.
Please note: The Park & Ride service, that runs from either Babraham P&R
or the City Centre to Addenbrooke's has stopped by the time our meetings finish
(usually just after 9pm).
CambsPSA
is a registered charity.
The Trustees who are responsible for CambsPSA
are
elected at the Annual General Meeting, to which all members are invited.
CambsPSA
does not offer or
give advice, only information and support. Those seeking professional advice should
consult a qualified practitioner.
